Robbie Gordon and Li Yatao, the top Chinese and American drivers, engage in a fierce showdown. The supercar races are coming to the capital city!
Robbie Gordon, as a versatile driver, has been present in numerous renowned events ranging from motorcycle races to the NASCAR series, from Baja off-road racing to the Dakar Rally.

On September 7th, the globally renowned "Chevrolet SUV Airborne Show" made its debut in Shanghai. With intense high-speed car drifts, extreme speed racing, and mechanical beasts, an absolutely stunning visual feast has begun.

At the competition site, there were scenes of intense speed, accompanied by the roar of engines. Muscle trucks speeding across the track, the wild SST competition descended upon Tianma Race Track.

The super car zoomed across the track, performing drifts, burning tires and swerving wildly. It not only made people feel thrilling and exciting, but also made their blood rush with excitement.

And it was the spectacular moments like these that were captured through the on-site confrontation between the legendary figure from the American racing scene, Robby Gordon, and the Chinese racer Li Yatao. Among them, the American racing legend Robby Gordon was driving a modified Chevrolet vehicle equipped with a 600-horsepower LS2 V8 engine, an American-style pickup truck.

During his career, he won three Baja 1000 championships, four Baja 500 championships, and 10 Dakar stage championships. Moreover, he is one of the few drivers worldwide who can complete the Indy 500 race and the NASCAR series in a single day.

At the competition site, Robbie Gordon said, "It was really cool to compete in China for the first time. The Chinese fans were crazy. There were around 50,000 people there. The entire venue was full. I was a bit worried at first, fearing that not many people would come to watch our competition. SST holds competitions all over the world, in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, and China is competing alongside monster trucks, which is a very interesting attempt."

Regarding the opportunity to compete in China, he said, "I have witnessed the growing popularity of car racing in China. Today, I visited the F1 track and also performed at Tianma Circuit. There are many places in China where car racing can be developed. People of all ages are interested in and enjoy car racing. The Chinese car racing scene is going to develop very well."

During the race, the track was winding and twisting. The high-speed jump ramp placed a significant emphasis on the vehicle's chassis and suspension. Robbie Gordon was driving this car, which weighed only 1.3 tons.

Robbie Gordon said: "During the design process of this racing car, we didn't encounter any major problems. The Chevrolet engine and the gearbox of the car worked well together, providing the car with excellent instantaneous burst power. Our racing car not only has high speed on a straight line, but also has speed in corners and during the acceleration process."

The supercar driven by Robbie Gordon is equipped with 8 professional-level (not race-level) King shock absorbers. The combination for each wheel is basically a combination of adjustable coil spring hydraulic damping shock absorbers + 4-channel nitrogen hydraulic damping shock absorbers.

The free travel of the front suspension of the Ultra Speed Car is around 450mm, and the free travel of the rear suspension is around 580mm. Of course, these are the approximate parameters on a paved track. If facing a rough road track, the engineers will further increase the suspension travel of the Ultra Speed Car (the front suspension remains unchanged, and the rear suspension is increased, generally not exceeding 660mm).

Before and after each Speedy Super Car, a common anti-roll bar found in off-road racing cars will be installed. This way, as long as the wheels are not simultaneously off the ground, the anti-roll bar will restrain part of the travel of the shock absorber. Moreover, since the anti-roll bar is a rigid structure, after installing the anti-roll bar, the actual center of gravity of the Speedy Super Car will actually become lower, thereby enhancing the handling performance of the car and the adhesion of the tires to the ground.

Robbie Gordon also adopted the simplest yet effective method for the balance of the SuperCard: a front-mounted engine, rear-wheel drive, rear-mounted fuel tank, and a water tank for the co-pilot. The front-mounted engine obviously concentrates most of the weight at the front of the vehicle, but the rear transmission shaft and the rear-mounted fuel tank are designed to balance the weight at the rear as much as possible. For the left and right balance of the vehicle, the SuperCard is mostly single-seater, and the space for the co-pilot's seat is mostly used to hold a water tank to balance the weight of the driver.

After the violent training, the supercharged engine of the car has a maximum power of 600hp and a maximum torque of 800N·m. After the car speeds up and jumps onto the ramp, it soars into the air and flies over the track. The driver constantly challenges himself, crossing each high-speed ramp in the shortest possible time.

It can be said that the V8 naturally aspirated engine is the crystallization of the American automotive industry and culture, and is an irreplaceable treasure in the hearts of American car enthusiasts. Robbie Gordon, who was exposed to V8 engines since childhood, has clearly reached the obsessive state of "increasing chrome color", and the Speedster Ultra Car uses either the General Motors SST series or Chevrolet LS6 series V8 naturally aspirated engines.

The creator of the Guinness World Record and the champion driver of the Chinese Automobile Rally Championship, Li Yatao, also performed a flying show in a Chevrolet SUV. He set the Guinness World Record for driving in a circular motion in the air (completing a 360-degree aerial flip) on January 27, 2012.

Li Yatao obtained his driver's license in 1997. In 2000, he graduated from the Automobile College of Jilin University. In 2003, at the age of 22, he obtained the racing license from the China Automobile Association and joined a professional racing team, beginning his career as a professional driver.

Regarding this competition, he said, "This car is absolutely crazy. This has also given me a new style of racing and made the audience feel the craziness of this car. This competition is extremely entertaining. When I, as an experienced driver and veteran racer, went to the United States to watch it, I was also deeply impressed. I am also honored to be the first Chinese driver in SST and have experienced this car. It's really exciting for me."

He also said, "Shanghai is a very fashionable city. The entire city feels great. The audience here are very enthusiastic and polite. I really like it here."

On the scene, the so-called mechanical monster "Bigfoot" also arrived. Each of its tires was 1.6 meters high, and its length, width and height reached 5.5 meters, 3.4 meters and 3.3 meters respectively. It was equipped with a V8 engine and had an extremely powerful 7.0L power output. It performed rapid cornering and high-speed jumps with various stunts on the racetrack. The Bigfoot race held its first event in 1988, attracting overwhelming attention and making the Bigfoot race become the most popular racing event in the entire United States. The Bigfoot race became a formal competition and spread across the entire country, attracting countless fans.
